Alpha Advocates and Legal Consultants

Energy and Resources

Alpha Advocates and Legal Consultants has a significant regional practice in the energy and resources sector. We have provided advice on a number of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region’s most important energy-related transactions and disputes.

The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) has enthusiastically embraced the energy transition, driving a wave of investment and regulatory changes in the energy sector and reconsidering the layout, construction, and operation of the region’s cities, incorporating sustainable development objectives into their plans and national planning procedures. As the MENA region moves towards cleaner energy sources, traditional oil and gas will remain essential for decades. However, the MENA states are at the forefront of this shift, setting the pace for renewable energy development, a lower carbon future, and installation.

At the centre of the MENA energy sector is our Energy and Resources team, which provides mandate-related advice on conventional oil and gas, mining, electricity, renewable energy, and energy transition to some of the biggest state-owned and international energy firms in the world. We provide advice on all aspects of a project’s lifespan and spearhead the application of innovative legal solutions that have become the standard in the industry thanks to our experience handling some of the biggest and most complex energy and resource transactions and our pan-regional knowledge.

Our team works with the numerous offices of Alpha Advocates and Legal Consultants throughout the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) to represent state-owned and independent companies in the oil, gas, LNG, petrochemical, mining, and power industries. We also assist these companies with acquisitions of energy-related businesses and assets, development of oil, gas, LNG, hydrogen, mining, and electricity projects, privatisations, and joint ventures. In the MENA region as well as beyond, we have particular expertise with conflicts, sanctions, and compliance.

Our work has encompassed the entire MENA region and beyond, since a significant portion of the world’s oil and gas assets are based there. In addition to providing advice on joint ventures, M&A deals, project finance, and regulatory issues, we also assist explorers, developers, and other mining and energy firms with the building, development, financing, and operation of mines and associated infrastructure throughout the Middle East and North Africa. We’ve provided project-related advice on a variety of minerals in the past, including metals, coal, oil shale, gemstones, dimension stone, chalk, limestone, rock salt, potash, gravel, and clay. We participate in mining projects at every level of the process, starting with exploration and continuing to the end.
